We bought this about 18 months ago. At first he worked like a whistle - he opened one bottle of wine after another. One shortcoming that I immediately noticed was that it is difficult to align the device precisely with the cork in order to ensure a direct entry. But the big problem is the battery life. After about a year, the battery no longer charges enough energy to open wine bottles. Unfortunately, the battery is unique and hardwired to the device, making replacement difficult if not impossible. I called Waring and they were just confirming the one year warranty and told me I was on my own. I will take the knife to Batteries Plus to see if they can replace the battery. Unless the battery can be replaced relatively inexpensively, this device is a year-long oddity. Disappointing - this is a great idea with imperfect execution.
