Simple, Reliable, Inexpensive, Adaptable

Simple, Reliable, Inexpensive, Adaptable. Note the holes are drilled for 1/4" mounts (Thule standard); one round, one oval. Mine drilled up to 5/16" for Yakima rod clamps. A socket and box spanner will then fit the nut into the oval hole (the new hole is quite far from the vertical side), but the nut over the drilled round hole will require an open end wrench due to the narrower gap. If the factory had placed the holes a few mm closer to center it would be more convenient for 5/16 but not critical. Mine came with small loops of nylon webbing that attached to the throw lever and provided a grip point. They tend to come loose. Solution; Cut the stitch, thread the loop through the hole in the button, tie the ends in a simple knot and singe the cut surfaces to keep them from unraveling.
