Review on πŸ”” Knog Oi Bike Bell: Original & Luxe Styles with Cable-Clip - Adult/Youth Bicycle Bell (Black, Copper, Brass, Aluminum) by Wayne Goff

Neat concept but it doesn't work like a bell and has too many operational issues in actual use.

Spent a week on this call. For some background, I'm a regular road and mountain biker. My trips usually last between 2 and 6 hours. I've always had a bell on my mountain bikes and road bikes. I like the design of this call but it's almost useless to me. When driving on the road at 15 mph, the bell is virtually inaudible to drivers more than 8 feet away. I believe this is because the bell is a lower frequency and doesn't have a punchy sound when struck by the firing pin. This seems to cause the ring to get lost in the background wind noise. In addition, the suspension of the bell itself is very springy. So much so that on a fairly rough road surface, the bell constantly chimes in a low 'ding-ding-ding-ding'. You also have to be very careful to keep your hand off the call as any contact almost completely breaks it off. The cable relief in the harness is a great feature and one of the reasons I bought the OI brand. However, if your cables come out of the band at the front of the stem instead of at the bottom, the bell hammer will rotate very low on the stem. This is fixed due to the design and cannot be adjusted on the bell. After noticing the constant ringing on a halfway bad road, I won't even try it on a mountain bike. Be careful when you touch it. Routing the cord can put the ringer in a position that makes it difficult to use. Slight vibrations cause ringing noise.
