and sturdy. I had to open two very, very old (14 year old) cans of paint to paint my living room and hallway. Both were almost full, 1 gallon cans and both had very rusty lids that shattered when trying to remove them. I ordered them straight away and used two of each color and I love them. It's not flimsy plastic, it's hard plastic. I like that they are black as I'm not sure if prolonged exposure to light will affect the colour. And my paint is already OLD. The lid closes well and sounds good. I used my labeller and a paint dot to mark the top and an image of the jar label for the sides. I have 8 gallons and 7 liters of paint left, I'm going to switch to these canisters. these quart sized jars are reasonable but the price for a 1 gallon jar seems ridiculous to me. I won't pay $11.50 for a plastic can, so I'll stick with liter cans. I love these and hope they keep the color from going bad. I'll let you know in 14 years. :)
