Follow the instructions and everything works great!

I've had this tray for a year now and it's still in perfect condition! It has great wear resistance and has proven itself well. If you're reading this and considering buying this box, I highly recommend it. I have 2 cats and hate cleaning the litter box. I've tried everything and was willing to give up and spend $600 on an automatic before I got this one. Now I will never go back to a normal box. This makes cleaning up the litter so easy, I'm surprised anyone else uses a regular tray. IMPORTANT: I read <3 star reviews and laughed. They've all complained about dirty dirt getting stuck in the shifter holes, but the manual says you NEVER EVER stick dirt in the shifter. With purchase you will receive 3 boxes. 2 regular trays and 1 colander. You put 1 crate on the ground, a sieve crate in the middle and a 2nd crate with all the trash in it. These reviewers put the screen box with all the junk on top. Sounds good in theory, but creates a huge mess and the box doesn't work that way. The strainer is ONLY used during cleaning. To clean, lift the top crate of dirty debris and dump into the middle crate of the sifter. Then take the Shigter box from the last box. This keeps all the dirty clumps in the strainer and all the clean residue in the last drawer. I use regular clumping litter and my screen doesn't get dirty at all. What remains in the sieve is discarded. Finally I leave the filler where it is and just drop the empty strainer into the box I emptied first and place both under the filler box. It all takes about 10 minutes and you touch the beer with a scoop or any leftovers. This made this daily task much easier. If you currently use a regular litter box, this is a significant improvement you won't regret.
