If you use Mac or Windows, this adapter is probably the 5-start product for you. This overview is for FreeNAS or FreeBSD users. This adapter does not use ASIX as stated on the manufacturer's site, but uses a Realtek controller. The driver that came with the system allows for plug-and-play operation, but it does not work properly. No information is sent to the control panel and you get the status "Link Unknown". I bought the U236-000-GBW as a replacement and it works out of the box with an ASIX controller as stated on the manufacturer's site. This is not a seller problem, it is a supplier problem as the controllers described on the page are not used for this device.
