Review on ๐Ÿš— Mann-Filter CUK 5366 Cabin Filter: Enhanced with Activated Charcoal for BMW/Land Rover Models by Gary Christon

Non-OEM part.

Bought this filter for my BMW X5. I thought it was OEM but it wasn't. The original has a rigid plastic frame with a foam ring around the filter. This filter is slightly larger than the original filter because it does not have a plastic frame and foam. The filter image shows that there is foam around the filter (black band). Why is it critical? Because some outside air flows around the filter and enters the ventilation system. When dirty, the filter deforms due to the flexible fiber outer frame, and without a foam ring, the problem is exacerbated. If you've taken the time to look through the gap where the filter is, you'll also see the rounded corners where the filter is. Obviously the filter needs a foam ring to seal properly. This filter is square. You can't fix the problem just by applying foam tape because the outer fiber wrap doesn't hold the foam glue (cause of the plastic frame on the original filter). My old filter was pretty dirty so I used this filter but will change it at my next oil change and consider it a lesson learned. It is best to speak to a customer representative before ordering to ensure it is designed like the real thing. Last thought: It's a BMW! I think I just put duct tape on it to get through. Remember, they're designed that way for a reason.
