I have an old house and recently installed a pellet stove. I was curious about how hot the stove gets and also wondered if there are any bigger holes in my house for hot air to escape. I was considering buying one of these thermal imagers but found out they cost a fortune and then came across this little thermometer and was impressed by its accuracy and value. According to MT4, my furnace emits air at around 240 degrees Fahrenheit, and I haven't found any places inside or outside my home that let the heat through. Also, I've learned that I need to make my fridge a little colder, that my hot tub is actually 104 degrees Fahrenheit, that "5" on my electric stove is about 350 degrees, that my dog is always 80 degrees, that sweat on my forehead keeps mine Skin temperature to 85 degrees, but when the sweat dries my skin temperature rises to about 95 degrees, my car seats heat up to about 105 degrees - no wonder I always turn them off after a few minutes. Have fun and benefits. I think everyone should have one. Accuracy has been verified by taking the temperature of the walls near where I hang vintage mercury thermometers throughout the house and the reading is always (+/-) 2 degrees, which is within published error.
