Review on ๐Ÿšฟ Efficient and Versatile Bathroom Replacement: Universal Electric Compatibility by Andre Bennett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Purchased for the NuTone 696N B chassis. Rework needed, not a direct replacement

Our laundry room exhaust fan has failed. The house was built in 1996 and unfortunately replacing the fans with the new Silent models required a lot more work which we have time for. So the next best thing was to find a replacement fan/motor. Since Universal said so, we thought we'd give it a try. Remember when looking for a fan/motor replacement you need to pay attention to where the outlet connects to the metal bracket. Some are side mounted and some are center mounted. So check this out before you make a purchase. This needed a bit of tweaking as others have said in their review to make it work with my model which I have listed in the review title. In order for this to work in my situation I had to remove the motor from the metal frame, remove the motor and brackets from the reel and reposition it so it rotates in the opposite direction, and then put it in the old/original frame. The block I had to replace, some fans rotate clockwise and some counter-clockwise. So a little tweak to make it work for me. Luckily, my husband is handy and can troubleshoot and fix problems like this. The fan seems a bit quieter than the original. Unfortunately those are the noisier old fans and not the new quieter kind. Oh well, it does its job and the price was fair. Saved me from running around the big box stores looking for the right mount and turn.
