I ordered a size 8-10 for my 9 year old. It was too long and it dragged on the floor. She couldn't dance in it like that so I had to cut it about 4-5 inches long to fit. The upper half is too loose, but goes through. If I have to order again I'll probably order a size down for her. Size 12 to 14 for my 16 year old girl, a little loose in the top half but fits well enough for dancing. She's pretty slim. In general, the product itself is made of high quality material, will not fray when cut. The girls are happy and so am I.
