Cons of USB-C, generally good looking for a Macbook

UPDATED 12/10/21 I'm using a Macbook Pro 2021 and I still connect an external monitor. It looks like there are no firmware updates available for this monitor. There were some Mac OS updates that caused monitor crashes with USB-C here and there and I assumed BenQ would update something but nothing. Today I switched my cable to HDMI hoping the crashes will stop. However, this is only possible because the Macbook Pro added an HDMI port to the laptops. Maybe it's not BenQ's fault? But their fault is that they never got the full functionality of their USB-C connection. For example, physical push buttons never worked with USB-C. There is still slight bleeding at the edges of the monitor, which is not too noticeable during operation. But you can get ghosting on the monitor if you leave it there for a bit longer, although this has happened with my previous "fancy" monitors. Previous review: I'm using a 2016 Macbook Pro and hooking up an external monitor for a full retouch. Pros: - It works well for my daily use. This is a larger monitor than a Macbook, so that's an advantage. - The color and brightness are just right. - You can rotate the monitor 90 degrees to make it vertical when you want to see these shots. The ease of rotating and moving this monitor up and down is great! It glides well on the track and doesn't require much effort. Doesn't look like sliding ice, has some friction but doesn't give me any problems. I move this monitor on the sidewalk every day because I have a desk to sit and stand on. I wouldn't want to switch to a monitor that never moves like that again. This monitor comes with a 4-button external control panel that allows you to select different color profile settings. There is a grayscale button, it's very cool IMHO. While I don't really need this button when working with grayscale, it's a great option. I like color toggle buttons, sRGB, Adobe RGB. BUT. This is also included in the "Cons" section. Cons: - If you use this monitor with a USB-C to USB-C cable connection, you will lose the ability to use the external color profile buttons for the monitor. You are not working. Can not do anything. No more grayscale options, no more sRGB - Tech Support? What technical support? Zero answer to all questions I asked. - Blinking is visible on some edges and corners of the monitor. I created a black image in Photoshop and filled the screen with the image to see it and here it is. But the Dell monitor does the same thing so I decided to ditch it. I work in the middle of the screen anyway and you can't tell when you actually work unless you place your image on an edge or corner and I don't work that way there. Result? I like the monitor. I used a displayport connection a while back (think I used HDMI for the displayport) and the external button switches worked. So if that's how you use it, it should be fine. If you're using USB-C to USB-C, you'll want to get another BenQ that offers this, as extras won't work with external color profile buttons. It pushed me away.
