Most importantly, it connects to the Ram Camera Wiring Harness without any modifications. I bought it because I need to remove the back door when installing my RV. I have a reversing camera in the trunk. My RV is so huge that I can't see anything behind me when reversing. I chose this camera because it was said to plug into a standard ram wiring harness. When the camera arrived it was mounted on a license plate mount and also had a separate surface mount mount. My camper has too much overhang so I had to mount the camera on the camper myself. Since the license plate mount is offset to the side, I used the surface mount bracket and the included adhesive pad to attach the camera to the camper bumper. As other reviewers have said, the camera plug doesn't fit into the outlet that the tailgate plugs into. However, if you follow the truck plug another foot, you will find another connector. Disconnect the cable at this point and the camera will connect directly to the truck's wiring harness. The camera has an arrow pointing up, so you should not install it upside down. There are plenty of cables included in the box and the camera detaches from the wiring harness if you need to detach it. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it's a very basic block. You can see behind you, but none of the proximity displays that the Ram's trunk camera has.
