This relay included a small wire harness to connect to, but I removed the wire harness and connected the relay directly to where the factory turn signal relay was located under the left hand side panel. Plugged it in, tried the LED turn signals and the flash rate dropped to normal. If you only install LEDs on the front or rear of the bike and leave the standard bulbs elsewhere, the lights will flash quickly, and if you install LED turn signals on both the front and rear, they will not flash at all. So you need this relay.
