We have two cars and both cup holders in the center console are positioned differently. In my opinion this works best on vehicles with front and rear racks rather than sideways. The part that goes into the cup holder is adjustable to keep it in place. You need to make sure the phone is in place before driving because the part that fit the phone yourself is not easy. You need two hands, at least I need them. It has a little lip on the bottom of the phone holder which is great. I was able to put my phone in with the wallet open and unfolded. It sits at a decent height, making it easier to search for maps etc when needed. The only problem with this is that it stows the cup holder, so if you've got two people on a long trip and they're both drinking, you'll need a solution for that.
