I'm almost stuck on this dog door until I buy a new back door because of the hole I cut in my door when I bought the first one. Yes I have bought 3 in the last 7 years! They are almost impossible to install! Anyone who has ever thought of putting a nut on a bolt in a tiny 2 inch deep hole should check their damn head! Whoever said they bought the door because it has a hard plastic flap so I had to buy 3! This valve swings on 2 tiny plastic tabs. If one of them breaks, it falls out. Then you have a huge hole in your door. This happened to me in the evening when there were 3 frosts at 11pm on Friday. There is no place in my area where this dog flap can be worn. I thought of bubble wrap and printed it over the hole where it was open in the middle but overlapped. It works great until I ordered a new door from Revain and it arrived on Wednesday. I've been trying to insert this door myself for three days, but to no avail. All the parts you need to put between where the booger is. In the end I decided I would use the ones I already had that were already formed and bent, but then there were nuts and bolts that fit into a tiny 2" deep hole on the other side of the door. You should have about two people. So my daughter and son in law were here a week later and they worked on it for two hours in the bitter cold and finally assembled it but it bumped a little in the bottom corner it didn't seem like a big deal but a week than later two of my pit bulls ran through that door, the plastic broke in half. So I glued it back together and took the two pieces of plastic I had which were very flimsy and glued them to each side of the crack so it was reinforced and it worked great until it tore horizontally due to rupture whereupon I replaced the quarter valve opened . to the winter air. If you live in a very cold climate this plastic will become very brittle and any little thing preventing it from swinging will be completely free and if you have a violent dog this plastic will crack. There is no other door that has the same dimensions as this one. I spent hours and hours and hours trying to find a door with the same dimensions because I needed a soft magnetic valve. There are no dice. Then to top it off. When I ordered it it said I would receive it in 3-7 days. I ordered it on the 22nd, I should have received it between the 25th and 29th, I received it in 12 days! My back door opened up a 6x8 hole! It wasn't very cold but we just had a cold front with temperatures below freezing for 2 nights at night. Located in my hallway, my tailgate extends beyond the galley style kitchen before entering the living area into the bedrooms, so it's somewhat shielded from the rest of the house but still requires colder clothing in your central warmth. I put bubble wrap back on and my dogs will push through it because they want to go outside and it works for some but not the way it should. If it was something that didn't bother me when it arrived, it would be here in three days. It's always like that, isn't it? 😉
