Although this iron has lasted quite a while I would suggest buying a Chinese station instead (Hakko clone or KSGER T12) if you're only going to use this once in a blue moon. Conclusion after proper use: + The LEDs feel very comfortable, I will miss them when changing them. + The iron is pretty comfortable to use, despite the odd shape + $17 is pretty cheap for a band-named iron, even with the flaws (below) - while the pencil tip lasted a long time, the chisel tips wore out ridiculously fast. The total cost for MT2 and MT3 tips is the same as this kit (seriously?) -25W isn't much, it can hardly solder thick wires and ground planes due to the high temperature. Also, it takes forever to heat up. No regulation or temperature control. All in all for 17 € ok. I've soldered some on thicker wires (14 gauge splices) as well as some complicated work (SOP-8 SMD IC) and they came out fine. If you're never going to spend more on a complete soldering station then I think this iron is good, otherwise buy a good $50 station. preserved permanently). The short lifespan of the tips reduces the rating to two stars. Right now something like the KSGER T12 station can be bought for $40, I bought it to replace this iron and it's significantly better and well worth the extra $20. Not to mention all the tips available. UPDATE 2: With T12 compatible Revain units getting cheaper I can't even recommend this iron as a Blue Moon iron anymore. Just spend the extra $8
