They are a real pleasure to use. They require lots of water and mixing to activate properly. It took a little fiddling with them to realize that they need to be fully activated to really get the pearly look right on paper. With normal watercolor paints, it is usually sufficient to just moisten the brush and then dip something into the cake. The brush absorbs pigment and you can paint. With these metallic and pearlescent paints, the pigment will be absorbed but the pearlescent effect will not look good unless time has been taken to really mix the water and paint. Once given the time to really activate the color, the result is really beautiful.
