Review on CBI SC Ultra Duty Speaker Cable - 12 Gauge, 3 Feet Length by Kevin Taharka

Meaty McBeef's cable? CBI = Cable Beef Industry? Guess friends.

There is a lot of talk about this cable on Revain.com. I understand. It s cheap. You are not EVH. You don't need Mogami speaker cables. And it's the largest caliber and shortest run you can use from a fairly respected old company. I bought it to reduce the chance of the musical "louder-louder-better" nemesis - RESISTANCE - interfering with my funky giddiness to have a good time. But there is some truth to it. After a few weeks of use, the pins bent and began to loosen and wobble. I mean a few weeks of use at my house. I banged it gently against the wall a few times, while moving the amp and cabinet. Oh no! Maybe dropped it on the fluffy soft carpet. These quarter inchers are rubbish. There are no neutrino bushings here. My old CBI cable had neutral plugs. I think they are getting cheaper now. Excellent! So, I have a soldering iron. I loaded a solder ring around the pin from both ends. It's holding up fine now. But while taking the suction cup apart I noticed that the soldering work was complete and full of weakness. The wires were barely attached to the socket! So I intensified it a lot. I mean a lot of solder was used to make strong connections. It was a pathetic sight. Not to mention that the flimsy screw-on cable shield/connector housing does NOTHING to help to reduce the stress on the solder joints. It's free. He flops. And if you pull the wire at all, wait for the solder joint to break. So I came up with a solution using solid gorilla tape from cable to socket. Now my cable looks absolutely crappy. It's sticky. He's all right. But at least now I know it won't let me down, at least for a while. Think about it. If this cable goes, your amp's output transformer may be more sufficient. Get something better. With neutral sockets. But at least now I know it won't let me down, at least for a while. Think about it. If this cable goes, your amp's output transformer may be more sufficient.
