Highly acclaimed German engineers made a terrible choice of material for the driver's side door handle: soft rubber that easily degrades over time into a sticky mess that eventually falls apart and tears. This replacement part is great. Slide and remove the existing hard black piece of plastic pressed against the door panel (use pliers to grab it), then snap that liner into the hand hole above the sticky rubber compound. Absolutely eliminates the problem and provides a reliable solution in less than a minute. Sure, $20 for a piece of plastic is a lot, but the doorknob now looks better than new. Why this material wasn't used in the original trim of such an expensive car I'll never know.
