Helps with serviceable engines

When I first ordered this spacer for my 2002 Avalanche, I was skeptical that this thing would do a step up for me. I didn't like the $95 price, but I wanted more get up " n" So I bought it, it won't blow you away with a performance boost or help a tired engine, but it will add some profit to your engine if it's good (I've got 100,000 on it and it was plugged in only and wiring matched ) It works very well too Installing on a Vortech 5.3 or 6.0 requires work around two small radiator lines connected to the throttle body (simple, no need to bypass or buy a new hose like the other type said here), #1 just remove the air filter duct and top engine cover #2 Disconnect the throttle linkage and push down (if ni not electric). If it's electrical, just remove everything that's connected #3 Using either a small vise or pliers, gently squeeze both coolant lines and remove from rotation without losing coolant. Remove #4 nuts, then remove throttle body. #5 Remove air inlet bolts and clean before installing seal. #6 Gasket, gasket, gasket, throttle body and two bolts and tighten the bolts slightly, then install the third bolt and gently tighten (not too tight) #7 this is important, now you need the shorter one Reinstall and extend the coolant line on the driver's side by pulling the coolant tube (very strong lightly) and releasing the tension on the hose, and then loosen and move the hose a little (1/4 inch) on the #8, throttle body side either the connectors or the linkage or just the connectors (depending on if you have electronic choke or wiring) #9 fit the two included travel plates (you only need two bolts, not three, h to bolt on the linkage stay) check that the linkage is a little loose before installing the air cleaner duct, and finally install the air cleaner duct and the engine top cover, that's all (hope that helps). and pay special attention to the cooler lines you will be working with and you will always be fine (good luck and may the force be with you).

Pros
  • Improves throttle response
Cons
  • Weight
