If you plan to use this scooter on anything other than flat terrain, do not buy this scooter with a handbrake. The mechanism is the lowest part of the scooter and I broke mine at the end of the first day. Luckily I was good enough with the tools to remove it, but just skip the hassle. EDIT: you know what? I lubricated the hinge and tightened a few small screws on it (pictured) to make the front brace firm but not bind, and suddenly the rear brake was much more responsive. It turns out that you can muster more power when the post means you're not fighting with it, but with the suspension. Now I don't care about the handbrake and this scooter is exactly what I was looking for! But honestly, buy a scooter without a handbrake, tighten the screws and add some Tri-Flow, then it's perfect!
