Review on πŸšͺ Gator Door Latch Restorer - Strike Plate in Satin Nickel by Bruce Marable

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I would love to buy this first one

One of my original wooden door handle door locks has become very wobbly. By wobbling I mean that under no circumstances will it hit the existing strike plate. I've tried every setting on YouTube - epic fail no matter what I try. I even pulled out my computer USB microscope to see the problem up close and personal. Everything MUST work. The main problem was that the door frame was in less than perfect condition due to a number of previous repairs. I still had a fully functional latch and a decorative iron security door for protection, but that's not the point. Handle lock should work. It's a matter of honor now. I bought two excellent Guard Security adjustable hasps without checking the size of the product. They were too tall to just screw in without chiseling - my fault for not reading the description. Then I noticed GATOR. These were exactly the dimensions I needed, but I couldn't see how a barely adjustable, no drill, no chisel, no strike plate of any kind could solve my problem immediately. Boom - add to cart. I definitely had nothing to lose. It arrived yesterday and it was beautiful, shiny and strong. I still haven't seen any "magical" abilities. I unscrewed the old strike plate and made sure the screw holes were still ok. I folded the two pieces, inserted the screws that came with it, and tightened them one at a time. Once the components were tight and flush, I closed the door and latched it. It held, it closed perfectly, and no reasonable force could force it open. I unlocked the handle latch, twisted the handle and it opened as it should. I've tried about a dozen times, same result. It worked. MAYBE only five minutes to solve the problem. One GATOR, two screws, done. Highly recommended.
