I've been using this board as an ESXi server for a few weeks and so far so good. I'm using a Xeon 2650v2 from eBay and 16GB DDR3 ECC memory cards from Samsung. However, if you want the onboard LAN to work, you'll need a custom installer. So far the built-in Realtek board has proven reliable for me, but I recommend getting a PCIE x1 graphics card and a good network card for the x16 slot if you want to use this board for a cheap server.
