Great light at a great price

I bought this 8.9" light after ordering and installing the larger 12" version a week ago. I was so impressed with the larger model that I decided to try this one to replace the CFL light in the hallway. Each of the two installations presented their own unique installation challenges due to the age (old) and size (small) of the junction boxes. However, these lights are so light, small and flexible (in terms of mounting options) that the installation went smoothly. I calculated the time and the installation time from start to finish was only 16 minutes. This included removing the ladder, removing the old jig, installing a new one, and stowing away the tools. Super light and smooth. The only thing that makes this smaller model different is that it doesn't have a 3-level color temperature setting like its big brother. I didn't care as for the larger one I used the mean (daylight) which is a fixed value for this corridor. the difference between them and this device. This light uses less energy, turns on faster, emits more light and has a nicer daylight color than warm CFL. Interestingly, I've never noticed a slight CFL turn-on delay before. Now I flip the switch and this LED lights up immediately and the CFL lights turn on after a short while. I haven't timed it but it's probably less than a second but it's still as noticeable compared to a blink of an eye on the LEDs. I am very impressed with these Tayola lights and only wish all my lights were like this. The only remaining factor will be the test of time. As the LEDs themselves are not replaceable (built into the fixture) they should last a very long time. It is hoped that they will last at least 10 years before the entire fitting needs to be replaced. If any of them fail, I'll let you know and update the review.
