Buyer Beware, CO2 leaks from around valve stem

After years of using a mini pump, albeit a great and reliable mini pump, I decided to go for a CO2 inflator since my pump was only able to get me to 90 psi, which isn't too bad, but i'm a big rider and I was always worried about pinch flats, I won't ride less than 115 psi, so if I ever had a flat I wouldn't feel comfortable continuing my ride, so I would head back home. I researched a lot of inflators and read a lot of reviews, and this one seemed like a good choice. A 16g cartridge is supposed to be able to get a 700X25 tire to 120 psi, so perfect, right?Well I must have received a dud, because the first time I used it I noticed my tire didn't feel as firm as my front, but I just attributed that to user error since it was my first experience with it. Well two weeks later I had some more bad luck, had another puncture, so I got to use it again. Same thing happened, felt way less firm than my front, but decided to keep riding since I had another tube and cartridge with me. Well 5 miles later I had a pinch flat due to the low pressure, so I had no choice but to limp back home, because when I used the remaining CO2 it was also very low.So what was going on? I thought again maybe it was user error, so I went to the YouTube, watched several different clips, nope, I was doing it correctly. So I finally decided to go out to my garage and deflate my tire and try to figure out what was going on with it. So i went thru the process again, and this time I was finally able to notice that even though CO2 was going into the tire, it was also leaking out from around where the nozzle attaches to the stem, and I had it screwed completely onto the stem. So that was four uses, and all four uses were the same. I tested the PSI and it was at 60, so essentially half of the CO2 made it into the tire. No wonder I experienced a pinch flat on my ride. This product is USELESS, at least for me anyway.I've just ordered an inflator from Pro-Tool, so hopefully I have better luck with that one.I am not interested in a replacement for this one or even a refund for that matter.

Pros
  • Compact and portable design for easy storage and transportation
Cons
  • The inflator may not work at all if the CO2 cartridge is faulty or has been tampered with
