I wish I knew about this sooner. I use it for a towel rail in the bathroom and a curtain rod in the house. A big problem is that you have to make a big hole for them to go through, but I can't do that until it holds my poles.

Screws feel cheap and flimsy. Several guard locking leaves are stuck in the closed position or jammed. I had one where it got stuck and wouldn't open while in the wall. I had to remove everything and redo with a new screw. While this is a good price I should have bought something more durable and consistent.

I'm a fan of cavity wall wrenches, so I ordered them to hang some wire shelves in my AirBNB. Unfortunately, about 50% of them were defective. Either the bolt threads are too small or the wing threads are too large. However, the defective slipped and did not hold as intended. I ended up having to test each pair first, but I finally gave up and bought a box from Home Depot. Don't buy this.

Be sure to use a 7/16 bit with a 3/8" shank for a regular 3/8". -Drill to buy if you use this one. Lever screws are best for hanging showers and towel rails, as regular drywall anchors won't work. They are very useful when the weight of the item you are placing/hanging is large enough or when you want to provide stability in a wall. However, keep in mind that if the stress is too high, these too will loosen and cause even more damage than loosening and/or removing a drywall anchor.

I have tried other types of fasteners in the past to attach things to drywall. They always seemed to fall out if I breathed too hard on them. I've also had a few that actually broke and didn't expand like they should when you tightened the bolt. I mainly use a 1/8" pry bolt and wing nut to attach towel rails, towel rings and a wall coat rack that accepts drywall. The lever-lock bolt and nut option is the best fastening system for wall panel attachment. I used to use plastic drywall anchors (which suck) and then self drilling anchor bolts.
