I bought this player to play music from a flash drive through my old Pioneer receiver/amp stereo system. (We have all our music on flash drives as these are also used in both of our machines). This player is quite an odd device, but to echo another reviewer, this was the only thing that helped me. By the way, the fact that it has a radio doesn't matter to me - I was only interested in the capabilities of the USB player. Stereo output plug to two RCA plugs for amplifier input. (I connected it to the tape recorder inputs of my amp). Bad news: It's hard to believe that the power adapter isn't included in the box. All that's included is the correct 2-wire power supply connector, so you can pair it with a 12-volt adapter that you'll have to buy elsewhere if the connector doesn't fit. Strange. When I did it didn't work. I ended up using an old multi-voltage/polarity adapter I had with a set of connectors. I found one that worked. The downside is that the power jack only stayed connected when I put the device on its side, otherwise it kept disconnecting. The display is pretty idiotic. It just shows the relative track number for everything (all albums are bundled together, so track 1 would be from the first album on your drive and track 95 could be from your 7th album). So if you want to play something specific, you need to remember what its track number is. It doesn't show any text - it just shows the track number and counts down the time as it plays. Using the remote control is annoying. You need it fairly close to the device, and I've found that to work, it needs to be pointing at an offset angle, rather than directly at the device. You can pause or stop and restart with the remote control. You can also enter a track number and it will jump to that. You can also switch off the device with the remote control. However, you cannot turn it back on with the remote control. The manual on/off switch is inconveniently located on the back of the device. If you turned it off with the remote control, the next time you use it, you have to turn it off and on again with the actual button on the device. Generally bare bones, he does what he needs to do. I think the sound quality is good too, and since there's nothing quite like it on sale I've given it 3 stars. However, I find it totally unacceptable that it can't display information that even the cheapest media players can and doesn't at least let you scroll to different albums.
