I was a bit skeptical about a waterproof mattress pad that was actually not a bag with a plastic cover. I am very impressed with the properties of the coating. We have two children and wanted something that would save us from a rare late night accident. We have cases, but they aren't waterproof, so basically useless for our purposes. I didn't want anything overly plastic as their accidents are pretty rare. I opened the package, picked up the lid and poured water on it to see how it behaved. The top retains water and absorbs some moisture as it is a cloth surface but the bottom was completely dry. I let it sit in my hand for a while and my hand stayed completely dry on the underside. I was expecting the waterproof case to be loud and quite plasticky, but it's not. It's soft, comfortable, and good-looking (because it doesn't flash or scream that it's a waterproof mattress pad). I'm impressed and happy to see it works.
