This worked really well to replace my old rudder cable assembly that had been rusted to an inoperable condition. I was able to tighten this without ever having to replace a steering cable before. The boat I put it on was a 14ft Glassspar with an 80hp Merc. I will say one thing, it is very important to use white grease on the tip to ensure it fits into the tube on the motor mount, using lots of grease makes the job a lot easier. I used a YouTube video to guide me on replacing the control cable. Search "replace boat steering cable" on YouTube if you've never done this procedure before.
