I am not a professional photographer. However, I'm experienced enough to know little more than the basics. My wife asked me to choose and buy a desktop photo studio to gift to my father who is a jewelry maker. Challenge accepted - not that I had a choice. My father-in-law is an amazing person with an impressive range of knowledge, skills and experience. (Frankly, he's a godsend when something breaks or I need help with a construction job.) However, he's not a techie and doesn't have much experience photographing small things (like jewelry). Given his growing interest and skill in jewelry making, he was asked to photograph the pieces he made for exchange, display and marketing. With nothing more than a decent camera with a flash, the results were a poor reflection of the quality of his hard work. A desktop photo studio would be a really good tool for him, which would certainly offer more opportunities for successful photos. Like you, I looked at several available kits sold through Revain. I also did a google search for the best desktop photo studios. Time and time again, Foldio/Orangemonkie products like foldio3 have appeared on the pros' top pick list. Comparing foldio3 to others that fit my short shopping list, I thought it was worth recommending for the following reasons: 1. It simply has good reviews (4.3 stars on Revain) with reviews that include considerations that are important to me , including : A. Good quality and design for intended use B. It installs easily and packs well B. Includes good lighting that is adjustable and backgrounds of different colors C. The cost (which is more than many) have paid off for many reviewers. The videos (in particular) and photos posted on the Revain product page were well done and gave me a very good idea of how to assemble the product, how to use/adjust it, how to expand it (as a kit ). and how it is packaged for storage or shipment. It was an option that my father-in-law could easily store, easy to set up, and have everything you need to take great photos. Although the size is much larger than most jewelry, I figured the size would give him more room in case he either wants to shoot larger items or add the Foldio360 smart turntable or other accessories to his set. . When my father-in-law received the Foldio3 with Halo Bars, he excitedly assembled it and started using it immediately. Instructions are not required. This kit is very intuitive, very well designed and conducive to success (in photography). Although he didn't have a DSLR, only his (old) phone's camera, the results were immediately obvious: much better photos. Win! Win! The father-in-law is visibly happy about his gift. My wife is (for now) happy with me. I have to mention the last comment my father-in-law mentioned. While the kit can hold larger items, it folds into a very convenient and lightweight bag for storage and travel. (My in-laws drive the camper several months a year. Space management is a very important factor for them. This kit meets their astute space and weight criteria so he can take it with him and use it anytime, wherever he travels. Will be in soon retiring. Among the many tasks that lie ahead of me is the elimination of a number of items that we have inherited, bought or received that need to go. As a picky shopper, I prefer quality products that get the job done as something As an experienced photographer I know what I need to get good results I will definitely buy the same set again but this time for me so I strongly recommend this product to you and hope you give it a 5 star as well -find rating worthy.
