Review on Munchkin Aluminum Hardware Hallways Extends by Tamara Jackson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The quality looked solid and solid, and we wanted something more modern.

These goals are the top three in the ranking and no more. I'm not sure how anyone can give this item a 4 or 5 rating. My wife and I ordered this because our Shih Tzu has walked down the stairs a few times. After extensive research the quality looked solid and solid and we wanted something more modern to match our interior. Well, we were only moderately satisfied. Some thoughts. Pros: aluminum itself is beautiful and durable, secondary to the properties of aluminum itself, and no, thanks to the manufacturer. Another plus, they look more modern than any other gate you will find. Believe me, we researched for hours. It's pretty durable. The closed/closed position and plastic parts are pretty solid and there's a nice solid feel when you close them. Which is completely weird. I used to work in a machine shop and those rough, burr-free edges and misaligned holes wouldn't pass quality inspection any day of the week. See attached photos. As already mentioned, the screw holes don't even line up! For around $140/150 Gate I expect some clean, perfectly aligned CNC machined screw holes. Negative. Unacceptable.b: The instructions don't say so (if you can call it that, they're just pictures with no text), but the setting on the gate is set to the default "click" settings. What does that mean? This means that once you have set the desired length, you can only engage it when you drill the next hole in the aluminium. Consider the EZ-UP pop-up tent. Tongues won't snap until you get to the next hole, which appears to be about every three inches: Guaranteed an older or more experienced toddler will figure it out. It's not difficult to open. My wife is pregnant and once my girl is older I will come up with a mod to fix Munchkin's design incompetence. . You'll see! e: You don't mention it, but if you have railings or handrails directly over where the gate will be, you can't install them because to attach the hinge you have to insert the hinge bracket into the bracket. Bracket. I ended up having to cut a hole in the railing to install the gate. Which didn't really matter, because at some point we'd have to replace our railing anyway. In short, if something is hanging on either side of the mounting brackets, you cannot mount the gate. I think that's a design flaw. So why 3 stars at all? Because it looks killer and unfortunately there is nothing else like this product on the market. Yes, and the functionality is decent. However, prepare for some disappointment and good luck finding something better in the world of baby gates. Would I buy it again? May be. Simply because unfortunately I haven't seen anything better on the Kindertormarkt. I wouldn't say it's a compliment.
