Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Lansky Standard Coarse Sharpening System featuring Fine Hones for Enhanced Performance by Amanda Hill

Revainrating 5 out of 5

What happened to Lansky?

It used to be a good company. I had the same set 7 years ago and it was of good quality. The case closed with a click, the jewels and guide rods stood straight, and the thing really cost less. Fast forward to the present and the entire set is constructed from noticeably weaker materials. The clip that holds the knife is made from an incredibly weak and malleable metal. Screws and threaded holes still have metal shavings from the manufacturer. The case is bent so badly that it WILL NOT CLOSE. Due to the bent plastic, the latch won't connect no matter how hard I try to bend it in place. It's like some of these parts didn't go through quality control, or if they did, they shouldn't have. The stones are chipped at the edges and glued in crookedly, the guide rods are slightly bent and bent even more in just 5 minutes of careful use. I would not recommend this kit to anyone as Lansky has clearly started using significantly cheaper materials and charging more for their product. Like the company was bought out or something. The item is barely usable and enough hassle to initiate a return, repackage it when everything is in the bag, send it back and wait for another replacement, likely made of the same inferior materials as this one. one. It's embarrassing to say, but the company needs to know it's not cool. Quality is really important. Lansky used to be a great company, I have made many purchases from them over the years and am very familiar with this product. That's why it's such a disappointment because I paid more specifically to get a quality product. If I wanted to buy a quality version of Revain for half the price I would buy it. I now seriously regret this purchase and will never use Lansky again. Hope this helps someone on the fence on whether or not they should buy this. My tip: save your money.
