Easy to use and speed up your work

This sharpening system is very easy to use and allows you to quickly sharpen knives. I had one of these sets many years ago and loved it. I used it until the stones wore out. I bought this with a clip stand and I love it. I attach the stand to the edge of my workbench and leave. Sharpened all my knives razor sharp in about 30 minutes. Advantages: 1. Easy to use and configure.2. Good consistent benefit I could never get for free.3. Multiple grades of stones for polishing and fine sharpening.4…

manufacturing defect. Tilted Stone

While the product worked perfectly and provided very stable angles, various stones and oil; mine came with a factory fault stone (blue) that's tipped. picture attached. I have contacted Lanskey but have not received a reply. updated 1.12.18. I sent the defective stone to Lanskey and received a new stone. Three weeks passed between dispatch and receipt. I'm definitely not satisfied that I had to put so much effort into a $22 sharpening system. Constructive Criticism: Dear Lanksy, Please simply…

Lansky Standard Sharpening System

It took me several attempts to learn this kit. Finally, I re-read the instructions to see what I was missing and I seem to have found what I was doing wrong. I have no doubt that this system will make the knife very sharp, but I had a very hard time getting the knife to stay in the vise that comes with the kit. I didn't read the instructions on how to loosely adjust the screws on the vise, and the knife kept slipping out of the vise after only a few hits. The instructions explain this well…

Best sharpening system on the market

Unless you have a robotic hand and 20 years of experience getting the right angle on a whetstone, this is the best sharpening system available, period. I've struggled with knife sharpening all my life. because I could never get the same angles on the stone. And while there are some easy-to-use sharpeners that just pull the blade through, these should be avoided at all costs, as they simply strip metal without applying a fixed blade angle and will completely ruin your good knives. Lansky is…

Best I've ever made for my kitchen knives

This 3 brick set is all you need. Very sharp. Now my chef's knives cut wrinkled skinned tomatoes and peppers with ease. If you want a sharp blade to cut everything it comes in contact with, buy other small rocks (imagine cutting everything with a razor sharpness. I don't really need that as I need freedom of action, so cut I not always myself). But if the standard "really sharp" is enough, then the 3-stone system is perfect. Note* Having corner sharpening holes in the kit is an important…

Takes a lot of time, but it's worth the effort.

I bought this because my expensive knives were getting dull and I was shocked at how much it would cost me to have them professionally finished. I have chosen this product over many others because this system allows knives to be permanently sharpened. The difficulty is to fix the knife blade in the gadget. Once you have your knife, apply the oil and then sharpen the knife in a circular motion. There are holes for correct grinding direction. Each knife takes about 10 minutes, but more if you…

Not very good, just use a rock

This system isn't bad, but it doesn't produce a perfect edge like a good jig system should. I'm having some issues with Lanksy.1's basic design. The angle of the stone changes in relation to the blade as it runs across the blade.2. When stones are switched to a different grit, it is not possible to get the exact same angle as the previous stone, so you end up having to readjust the edge angle each time.3. The guide holes in the clamp have curved edges, allowing the guide bar to be easily lifted

What happened to Lansky?

It used to be a good company. I had the same set 7 years ago and it was of good quality. The case closed with a click, the jewels and guide rods stood straight, and the thing really cost less. Fast forward to the present and the entire set is constructed from noticeably weaker materials. The clip that holds the knife is made from an incredibly weak and malleable metal. Screws and threaded holes still have metal shavings from the manufacturer. The case is bent so badly that it WILL NOT CLOSE…
