It took me several attempts to learn this kit. Finally, I re-read the instructions to see what I was missing and I seem to have found what I was doing wrong. I have no doubt that this system will make the knife very sharp, but I had a very hard time getting the knife to stay in the vise that comes with the kit. I didn't read the instructions on how to loosely adjust the screws on the vise, and the knife kept slipping out of the vise after only a few hits. The instructions explain this well. Read the instructions on the white multi-fold booklet included in the kit. After re-reading them, adjusting the bolts and tightening to spec, I had no more problems. I got a very sharp knife. Now I am happy. I can now recommend this product.
