Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Lansky Standard Coarse Sharpening System featuring Fine Hones for Enhanced Performance by Sander Savala

Not very good, just use a rock

This system isn't bad, but it doesn't produce a perfect edge like a good jig system should. I'm having some issues with Lanksy.1's basic design. The angle of the stone changes in relation to the blade as it runs across the blade.2. When stones are switched to a different grit, it is not possible to get the exact same angle as the previous stone, so you end up having to readjust the edge angle each time.3. The guide holes in the clamp have curved edges, allowing the guide bar to be easily lifted over the edge. This changes the angle of the stone, creating an imperfect matte edge. At least I was able to fix this by filing the edge of the pilot hole square with a small file (so it's a rectangular hole instead of an oblong round hole)4. The clip is difficult to adjust properly and doesn't center the blade very straight. The blade is also slightly scratched at the point of attachment. I usually put tape on the blade to prevent this. All in all, it's just a tricky system that works well and consistently. I can get the blade sharp enough to shave the hair off my arms, but it takes a lot of effort. Of course, Lanksy is a lot cheaper than high-end sharpeners like Wicked Edge, so you can't really make an objective comparison. But I guess I'll just stick with wet rock (although I don't know how to use them either, lol).
