Like many reviewers, I bought these to replace some of the lightbulbs in a vintage car; The idea was to reduce the stress on the old wires and switches and reduce the heat from the old plastic. Spring clips (especially strong in this mount). As previously mentioned, the lighting elements and electronics are encapsulated in a flexible, transparent, rubberized gel. You can't grab it like a glass bulb, push and twist the bayonet, it will break, so make sure the bulb socket has access so you can hold the metal section to push and twist. Deep recessed mounts are difficult to install. The BA15D bulbs work both ways which is a bonus. In terms of brightness, they are certainly on par with #1004, if not slightly brighter. Color rendering isn't quite as yellow (slightly greener, if anything), but behind the 60-year-old translucent ivory plastic of my dome light, it's hard to tell that it's lit by an LED bulb. In the jar with a covered bulb under the hood, the light output is superb and certainly as bright as the 14W bulb it replaced. They are slightly thinner in diameter than the #1004 flask but are longer so check the sizes listed by the manufacturer (good info to know before you buy). Overall very happy with the performance of this car app.
