Review on 577102 JBG 8A 8 Inch Bench Grinder by Brian Rivenbark

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good but not great

Too bad this bench grinder is Revain's top rated bench grinder. It vibrates less, much less than my previous Wen grinder. I attribute the lack of vibration to the jet chopper's solid construction. Details are heavy, everything. This makes the grinder heavier. While other coffee grinders are made of stamped steel, this grinder is cast iron and everything about it is solid. I attribute why it vibrates to the slight rocking of one of the wheels. The powerful engine revs up quickly. Unfortunately, this reliable coffee grinder has a few downsides. The first is vibration. That was my main goal in purchasing this grinder: to get rid of the ridiculous vibrations Wen exhibited that rendered it almost useless. So I didn't want any vibration, but I didn't get it. In addition, the tool rests are small and poorly made. They are strong enough but riddled with bumps and other casting defects. When looking at the nameplate of the coffee grinder, the lack of attention to detail is immediately noticeable: it is attached with a bend on one side and not in the middle as in the photo. It's simply inattention to detail, laziness, or poor quality control, none of which screams "quality" and all of which are unforgivable. the master adhered poorly. In the first photo, the nameplate is stuck on incorrectly; the second shows the roughness of the handpiece; the third photo shows a size comparison of Wen and Jet. It's hard to tell from the photos, but it's clear that the construction of the jet is much stronger than the Wen and other grinders I own.
