Review on Accurate and Versatile 8 Inch Taylor Precision 6084J8 Professional BiTherm Candy/ Deep Fry Thermometer by Lori Uniacke

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Virtually indestructible, great for soap making!

I have a fancy digital thermometer for baking bread and checking meat, but I use this thermometer for making soap. Glass thermometers can shatter in soapy temperatures or when reused in lye, but the good thing about this thing is that it doesn't require batteries and is almost impossible to break. I've dropped mine several times on a slate floor and still haven't broken the glass surface! It has a nice long handle for different size pans, and unlike some similar thermometers, the part that holds the pan to hold it in place slides easily along the handle and stays where it needs to be. It would also be great for making candy, but once you've used it for soap, buy another for food.

Pros
  • Temperature range from 50° to 550°F in 5°F increments.
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
