As other reviewers have noted, this lens is a bit heavy. This is typical of Tokina lenses, which are always made from a very strong, durable metal alloy. I've heard of people accidentally putting on Tokina lenses without damaging them. Try it with a Canon EF-S lens with a plastic barrel and see what happens! So yes, it's heavy, but that reflects the build quality. I have been using Tokina lenses for many years and have always been happy with them. I recently bought this and was not disappointed. It's a bit prone to flare when sunlight hits the glass, but that's not uncommon for wide-angle lenses. At the widest angles, this class of lenses is also characterized by slight chromatic aberration and slight geometric distortion around the perimeter. (Wide-angle lenses naturally want to be fisheye; it's very difficult to keep straight lines straight.) can afford lenses twice the price. It should be noted that this lens is designed for APS-C cameras (Rebels and 20D-50D series). It fits a full-frame camera like the EOS 5D Mark II (because it uses an EF mount and not an EF-S), but on these cameras the image produced doesn't fill the entire frame when zoomed below 20mm. .
