Disappointing Installation

I bought it because it will be very bright and energy efficient, but it was difficult to install. I was replacing a 20 year old light fixture that was constantly shorting out and blowing out expensive halogen bulbs - it had to be removed. First, the screws that came with this mount don't fit the standard cable connector (the diameter is correct but the threads are too big) so I had to use the original screws. This fixture doesn't allow me to use a metal ceiling anchor, so I had to use one of the screws provided by the manufacturer and just hammer it into the drywall. This seems to be a misunderstanding of how anchor devices are arranged in the US market. The light weight of the fixture made this possible, but it's certainly not perfect - I prefer a neat, book-like setup for lighting fixtures. I have been installing lighting fixtures in a variety of properties of all ages, from homes over 100 years old to modern buildings, for decades. This is the first time I've had to resort to this workaround! If it was an old house with a lathe and plaster, I'd have to go to the hardware store to buy some (undesirable at all times, but especially now in the midst of a pandemic). The colors of the wiring were unfamiliar to me (red/blue). ) and no instructions. I'm used to working with the back, white or red. I found conflicting information online as to what colors represent a live wire so I finally decided to look here and found that the red wire was live. I don't use a dimmer in my closet so I connected the blue light wire to the white wire on the ceiling. No need to ground this device, nice. Another downside was that the wires are essentially fused together and it only takes about an inch to connect to the ceiling wires. One inch really isn't enough to use a standard twist cap/connector. The package did not include smaller caps. So, using a box cutter, I carefully cut the insulation so I could connect the wires from the lights to the wires in the ceiling. If I slip, I could cut the insulation on the wires. Of course, this error can be corrected with tape, but again, this is an undesirable possibility. After all these complaints, I like the light. It's VERY bright and I would never use it in a living room, dining room or office. This is a bright, harsh white light and I can see why a dimmer is needed. However, I use it in a very dark closet so it works very well. I don't usually write product reviews, but the difficulties I've encountered have prompted me to write these.
