Don't use homemade soap. Use it.

That's all I need to wash. Just a cap of this in cold water mode works for everything. More people should be aware of it to save energy. If you want to be eco-friendly, your first concern should be to use only cold water for washing and drying as much as possible. Plant-based ingredients are also a great help. It's available and working. It doesn't smell like a mountain breeze or anything, but it cleans well. Smells faintly of grapefruit. DO NOT use soap recipes in the laundry. Many online sources say that a natural, eco-friendly laundry detergent can be made by mixing together borax, washing soda, and some type of soap like Napa Fels, or even homemade soap. This is TERRIBLE for your clothes and your car. It makes everything smelly and moldy after a few months. Trust me, I know from experience. You need a surfactant, not just soap, in your laundry detergent. This provides a surfactant obtained from plants. Healthy and efficient.
