I have used this clay to make miniatures and other types of sculpture. This clay, when properly cured, is very flexible, will not crack and is excellent for a variety of uses. My clay arrived quickly and was in excellent condition, not old or dry. TIPS FOR PROBLEMS For those having trouble with clay: Clay can be more difficult to work with in cold weather. The colder it is, the harder the clay becomes, and the warmer it is, the easier it is to work with. You can warm it in your hand in a cup of hot water (not boiled) or place it on a heating pad to soften it. a little baby oil will work, but don't use too much as it will ruin the tone. I also use oil to smooth my sculptures and remove fingerprints. Clay cracks after baking: If your clay is not flexible and cracks easily after baking, then it hasn't set properly. Your clay needs to be baked at 275F, your oven can be set to this temperature, but oven thermometers will give incorrect readings in many cases. Buy a thermometer to get more accurate temperature readings. Your clay should bake for at least an hour or more depending on how thick it is. At this temperature it can be baked several times and will not burn. I know the package says 30 minutes but I've been working with this clay for years, the longer it bakes (at the right temperature) the firmer it gets. Your clay, no matter how thin it is, should be able to flex without breaking when properly cured (unless a lot of force is used on thicker pieces). Once you've got the oven temperature right, check the baking: Unroll the clay and cut into 6 pieces 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide. They should be as thick as a nickel. Number them 1-6 and then put them all in the oven at the same time, set the timer for one hour. Take one out of the oven every 10 minutes. In this way you have baked 1 piece for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, etc. When you've baked the last piece for an hour, let it cool. Then do a bend test with each of them. What will happen, for example, that those baked for 10-30 minutes will break when bent, and those baked longer will not deteriorate. This way you can see if your oven is heating up enough. I have included some photos of my properly cured clay bend. That way you know it's cooked properly. As you work on your sculptures, you can insert test clay strips, remove them, and perform a bend test so you can assess if your project is baking properly. Hope these tips help!
