Good idea, but we shall see

I really can not accurately give a review, I’ll be using it in Sept. when we are gone for 2 weeks, but so far this is what I have. Bottles just fit down into the cap, they do not screw in. Instructions say you can adjust the flow of the water to drip up to 2 weeks, but there is now markings that say, this trip is for 2 weeks, this trip is for 1 week, this for 3 days, etc. It’s just a guessing game, Lefty loosely, righty tightly, screw the little valve to the right where it is tighter, less…

Pros
  • Watch the video in the product description to see how this works.
Cons
  • Doesn't work all the time...gets stuck

Water flows too quickly

I was looking for something I could use to slowly water my plants during a couple of days due to a quick trip. The plants don’t need much water and thinking of using a 8oz or 16oz bottle during my absence seemed to be perfect. As soon as they arrived I put them to the test hoping that the small droplet would last at least a day, but to my surprise the drop is almost equivalent to a faucet leak, and the bottles were emptied in less than a few hours. I tightened the caps differently to see if…

Pros
  • Tried to attach larger bottles...wont do it
Cons
  • Work but not well

Sinks into soil, falls over, and doesn't fully empty the bottles.

I bought these to water my container vegetable garden when we were gone for almost 4 days. They are a nightmare to setup because they kept falling over and sinking too deeply into the soil. (I use a typical potting soil mix)I tried with several different size plastic and glass bottles ranging from 1 to 2 liters, and most failed to empty more than maybe 30% Luckily we got enough rain to keep my babies alive - but I wont be putting any faith in this product again.Save your money and spend a few…

Pros
  • Prevents plants from becoming dehydrated
Cons
  • Can require multiple spike placements for larger plants or gardens

I'm not sold for my opinion

I'm not sold on this product. I only haven't returned it because it shows I 'try' to keep my plants alive. Can cause overwatering if not properly adjusted!

Pros
  • Efficient watering system for plants at home and on vacation
Cons
  • Can cause overwatering if not properly adjusted

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Saves your plants whenever you're gone.

They work good, but the bottle holding mechanism leaves room for improvement unless you could find the perfect bottle. To bad they don't screw on an off the shelf water bottle. Its hard to adjust the valve when its down in flowers where you can't see it. Not perfect but it does the job.

Pros
  • Improves air quality in homes and offices
Cons
  • Risk of injury during installation or adjustment

Take time to Set up and Will work well

These take some messing with to get them to work, but I feel it is worth it as it does work. I feel that if you are using it with potted plants that you should d o one at a time. Once you have it installed then test it for a few days before placing your potted plant where are you wanted to go. Take your time putting the black spike and the little hose and nozzle into the potted plant to make sure it is in there well. Then add your water bottle that is full of water. I used mountain dew plastic…

Pros
  • Easy to install and use
Cons
  • Can interfere with plant growth or root development

Better than globes best in my review

I used globes for my plants before and they did well most times. However, it couldn't control the speed of water and sometimes my plant died. This plant watering device seems to be a new version. So I bought one to built a self watering stystem for my little garden, as I had to leave home for almost one week. This little spikes surprised me a lot. It arrived in excellent condition and worked as advertised. Simple design but did great job and it can actually control the watering speed for…

Pros
  • Allows for more even distribution of water throughout the soil
Cons
  • May not be practical for use with larger or more extensive gardens

Not that great but still good value

First off, you get a bunch for cheap. The little nozzles are hard to adjust to satisfaction but they work.I sawed some MTB handlebars in half to stick the spikes in because they fall over in loose soil. That said, they do what their supposed to so I recommend this product for those not expecting them to perform like a plant nanny.

Pros
  • I'm going on vacation and I want to make sure that my plans will be watered loved it
Cons
  • Only a few of the spikes work well.

Light weight for my opinion

Great for smaller bottles but larger are too heavy for the spike to hold upright. Best not to fill water bottle to the top. Pressure forces a bit of water out before you can get it in the soil.

Pros
  • ♥ Suitable for Different Bottles - The plant watering device is suitable for all most bottles. It not only can be used for 1.1 inch bottle, all the bottles which opening is 0.8 inch -1.9 inch can be suitable. such as Coca-Cola bottle, soda bottle, even the wine bottle.
Cons
  • Can attract unwanted pests like ants or mosquitoes

Great for self watering

This is a great way to water for a long period of time one specific plant. It works great for that. My only complaint is that it does not hold the bottles in tight. They wobble a fair amount so I am careful to tip the bottle away from the plant. It does work well to control the flow of water can be used with many different bottles. It is easy to adjust the flow of the water as well. It

Pros
  • ♥ Newly Adjustable Valve - Precise valve control switch, adjust the speed of water flow more easily and effectively. We upgraded the switch,it is easier for you to change the speed of the waterer.
Cons
  • Did not work well.

Use smaller bottles for smaller pots

This is a weird product. I used normal sized Gatorade bottles and they were too heavy for my normal sized pot. If the dirt is not packed enough it will fall down. The dripping nozzle worked pretty well and it is easy to use.

Pros
  • Patio, Lawn & Garden
Cons
  • May leak water onto surrounding surfaces

Works very well!: my feedback

I'm located in Oklahoma and during the hottest part of the year my potted plants sometimes need to be watered twice a day which I really don't have time to always do. So I give them a thorough watering early when it's coolest and then use the self watering spikes to slowly and continuous!y water throughout the rest of the day. Works very well. Did take me a while to figure out you need to open the valve completely first and then back off to get exactly the right rate of drip.

Pros
  • Automatic Irrigation Equipment
Cons
  • Can clog with debris or mineral deposits

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Waste of money.: my feedback

There are literally worthless instructions that come with these spikes. The valve fits and clicks in as it should but there is no way to thread a bottle into the spikes so that they remain stationary. So as far as I can tell the bottle just sits on top of the device and you hope that it doesn’t fall over. Because there is no seal, the water basically pours out almost immediately even if you close the device valve. Maybe I’m just too stupid to figure it out but…

Pros
  • Provides a cost-effective solution for watering plants
Cons
  • Can be less effective during long periods of drought or dry conditions

I'm On The Fence: my feedback

It works like it says but they neglect to explain that during the quick turn over, you lose a good amount of water on yourself. God help you and your floors if your indoors using it.

Pros
  • Could explain the plastic ( black ) insert more. Explain it screws into to the unit.
Cons
  • Are you kidding?

I like that they are colorful and easy to install. Winding to the right lessens the drips and to the left increases the drips. The heavier the bottle the more it sinks into the soil and this blocks and clogs the spicket!

Pros
  • Saves time compared to traditional watering methods
Cons
  • Can cause uneven watering or damage to plant roots

Not as good as expected

Major inconvenience due to the fact they do not have bottle screw ons. Instead it is a cheap plastic Philips shaped mount for bottles which allow for leakage defeating the purpose of timed watering. I would not recommend.

Pros
  • Aids in plant propagation and seed germination
Cons
  • Can become an attractive habitat for algae or other microorganisms

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Cheap product in my review

They are not made for any water bottle to actually hold a full bottle Upside down. Could only use a 20ounce coke bottle. And still kept falling over. If you can stabilize it, then should be fine

Pros
  • Adjustable drip system allows for optimal water volume
Cons
  • Limited control over precisely where water is delivered

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as Easy as Expected

I really wanted these devices to work for our outdoor plants while we were on vacation but they didn't do so well. Could be operator-error, but in my experience if you didn't get the bottles to balance exactly perfectly, the water ran out quite quickly. I think if you had something to keep the water bottle steady, they may work better. However, wind or just vibration likely will cause the water to rush out vs steadily dripping.

Pros
  • Helps eliminate the need for hoses and other watering equipment
Cons
  • May not be as effective during periods of heavy rainfall

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Very hard to get the proper water flow

Bottles kept falling over. If I put the spikes in to where they can hold the bottle up then the drip nozzle is in the dirt. Can cause underwatering if not properly adjusted.

Pros
  • No need for constant manual watering
Cons
  • Can cause underwatering if not properly adjusted

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not right for my needs

Way bigger than I expected, and I needed watering for more than a couple days at a time. Not an appropriate product for my needs, I got an automatic watering system instead

Pros
  • Saves money on water bills
Cons
  • Risk of damage to surrounding plants or landscaping features
