I have been buying these exact US36 and US50 needles for 5 years. I recommend these needles to buyers as the most durable and affordable. Having knitted literally hundreds of blankets for my online shop over the last 5 years, I've only had 2 such breaks. The listed length, for example purchased 40 inches, is 44 inches tip to tip. I bought 47 inches and the tip to tip length is 51 inches. I recently ordered 6 pairs to include in knitting kits and decided to try the 32" length as I thought it would work with most of my patterns. The first thing that struck me is that they have now completely REPLACED both the cord and the metal connector. The wire is much thicker and appears to have more elasticity, making the movement of the yarn along it less smooth - the yarn wants to stick to the cord a bit. I am very disappointed with this change because to be honest they used to be perfect. When I took them out of the packaging, I noticed that they seemed too short. like, what can I even do with it? and when I measured the length of my US36 32" I found that they were tip to tip (I stretched them as far as I could for the measurement) they were more like 31 1/4" tip to tip! To be honest, that's exactly what I did. Try this and knit an entire quilt. The quilt I made was on the small side and it was still quite awkward to thread over that short thick elastic wire. This only worked really well for very small projects like baby blankets or pillows. Customers should be aware that the item now looks different than the product photos and the length is NOT the length of the cord. I would order a MUCH longer length than you might need. It's a lot less of a hassle to have too much cable than not enough.
