Review on πŸ”’ Cardinal Gates Banister Shield 15' Roll Clear: The Ultimate Solution for a Safe and Transparent Home by Kristen Lopez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Update: Almost three years later, it's holding up well.

October 2017 Installing this handrail protector was a lot more difficult than other reviewers have described. It took several "sessions" to finally get it, probably a few hours total. (I find it easier to install ceiling fans than this railing guard.) It also doesn't look "invisible" like others describe. It scratches and smudges easily, and every little bend or bend in the plastic casts a bright light, so obviously we've got guards along the railing in the attic - and it looks pretty cheesy and cheap. There were also not enough two zip ties to complete the job, not the seller's fault, just annoying. I would send it back but have already drilled all the holes and installed it so it won't turn itself off until it bothers me enough to take it off and invest in something else. I gave two stars (instead of one) because the price was reasonable compared to alternatives and the fact that the seller included a hole punch which was very handy. But overall, if I could go back I'd save myself the hassle and money and just invest in something better from the start. Update June 2020: Two stars have been upgraded to four. The reality is we have twins who just turned 3 years old and this railing protector has endured well over 2+ years of decay. It was tricky to install and isn't "invisible," but it makes our attic safe for two crazy kids.
