When I first opened the box and took out these little lights I wasn't sure. They don't look like your "typical" garlands. Instead of glass bulbs on plastic-coated wire (like you'd put on a Christmas tree), these lights look like little white beads, and the wire isn't coated at all - you can clearly see the triple strands of copper running through each bead. (See photo). The flashlights also do not have a standard 2 or 3 pin plug that plugs into an outlet. These lights must be plugged into a USB socket. This is not a problem for us, but you should be aware that they must be connected via USB. When we plugged it in and turned it on with the included remote, we were amazed and delighted. There are thousands of color combinations for these lights, and you can also control brightness, flicker rate, make them race in a variety of colors, and more. They are incredibly high tech yet easy to use and look incredible. So pretty and shimmery. We've tried different lighting combinations and found that our favorite settings are the ones that really pulse and shimmer to the beat of the music. This is a great feature for music lovers. We turn them on for Friday parties and they really set the party mood. The only downside to these lights is that I find they can get tangled if you're not careful. When we installed ours, we pulled on the rope to avoid tangling, which was too tempting for our cat. She thought it was her own shimmery toy, so you can put the kitten in another room if you turn on the light first.
