Replacing the original 1GB RAM with these 2 x 2GB DIMMs (4GB total) gave my Dell Latitude D620 new life and new possibilities. In the past, booting up, launching applications, and even navigating the c drive (yes, Windows 7 here) would have been an extremely slow and painful process. When clicking the buttons, drop-down menus appeared after 30 seconds, web browsing was surprisingly slow, the hard drive was running all the time. The computer spent all its time swapping/swapping between RAM and disk. Now these 4 GB are occupied. The laptop takes some time to boot up and once the desktop is powered on, the hard drive doesn't work like it used to. . Launching applications is much faster. For the small price of this memory, I have decided to take a leap of fate. If you go for the "official" Dell recommended memory, it will cost 3-4x the price of this pair of sticks. Is this a new old stock? Or does this RAM come from recycled computers? I'm not sure, the sticks appear to be in excellent condition and the seller advertises them as new. But sure they work great so it's a good buy. Dell Latitude users are greeted with a black screen, a large beep, and a message that the amount of RAM has changed during the first reboot when upgrading RAM. From there it seems like nothing can be done to continue the download. Wait a few minutes and a new line will appear asking you to press F1 (Continue) or F2 (Setup). Press F1 and Windows (or Linux) will launch in no time.
