I think we're all here because it really is the only solution to locking our Tacoma's tailgate. I really thought the bad reviews about the item breaking were just an accident or they didn't install it properly. Not so. I took my time and it sat perfectly in the back door. If you forget the tailgate is locked the first time and pull the handle, you break the item. Too bad because it looks really nice and the tolerances for attaching the lock to the handle are tight. If they made lugs out of metal the lock would be strong for sure. So I'm deducting 2 stars for poor workmanship. Another star deducted because the product is overpriced. Even if it worked, I think it only costs $20. I'm kinda glad it broke so I could get my $50 back.
