I bought it to mount an iPad Pro 10.5 inch in the car, everything works. I was surprised at how far the holder opens, allowing me to easily slip my iPad Pro in. It opens wide enough that I think it can probably fit a 12.9-inch iPad Pro. My only concern is that the instructions are really minimal and it took me a few minutes to figure out how to customize the cup holder part to my specific cup holder. I'm also very happy with it and it's nice to be able to use my iPad with the huge screen for GPS instead of my phone. However, when you do want to use your phone, the mount closes tight enough to protect most phones. I tried this on my iPhone XS Max and it works very well too.
