Almost 3 years old don't like it. It's louder than my real sewing machine, but I'm not worried about it sticking its little fingers out. The only real complaint is that it's difficult to thread at times and the directions are wrong, beyond the basic instructions on the box. So glad I bought it! Sometimes she only pretends, and sometimes we successfully sew the seam. nothing permanent so it's easy to pull the stitching and do it again
